MnDHA Annual Session 2011

MnDHA's 2011 Annual Session and House of Delegates meeting were held November 4th and 5th at Lake Superior College. Held in Duluth, this was the first time this meeting has been held outside of the twin cities metro area in over 20 years! The students and faculty of LSC welcomed all how attended with warm hearts and excitement.

The day started with a breakfast CE course, given by Diane Larson, RDH, about the use of nutritional supplements and probiotics for treatment in the dental setting. A student market was held for school fundraising and students from LSC gave tours of the dental hygiene clinic and classroom area. The Lunch and Learn CE was presented by Kelly Brenner, IMS Specialist-Central and was sponsored by Hu-Friedy. This lecture discussed hand hygiene for non-surgical dental treatment. The House of Delegates resulted in new commitments for MnDHA to support local outreach programs and oral health initiatives in Minnesota. The Strategic Plan and Budget for the 2011-2012 year was established and new officers were elected to serve for the coming year. Michelle Sensat concluded her year as president and Betsy Salic was inducted in as our new MnDHA president for 2012. Her vision for the coming year emphasized moving the Association forward with a positive outlook on change.

Thanks to Lake Superior College for hosting this event, and to B.J. Rischar Wiesen, our vice president for 2011, for organizing this successful weekend of events. Thank you! The new list of MnDHA leadership can be found under the CONTACT tab of the website menu bar. Congratulations to all new leaders! MnDHA looks forward to the next year and the progression of the dental hygiene profession.
